Women Development Centre

Women Development Centre (WDC) is a non-government organization for social work. With a registered office in Guwahati, Assam, it was established in January 2000, a Millennium gift to the women of North East India. WDC initiated community development programs to improve the lives of women and elevate their socio-economic status, build leadership skills, provide livelihood opportunities and include them in decision making process through various intervention programmes. It initiated community development programs in various parts of North East India especially, reaching the hard-to-reach areas to ensure that no one is left behind. WDC aims to integrate development of the marginalized women and youths, by creating awareness of social rights, education, vocational/skill development, health and environment and making them empowered through capacity building, job creation and sustainable income generation activities.

Mission

To improve the living condition of women and children by taking care of their health, education, employment and social status. We carry out this mission through research, community services, advocacy with Government, training and capacity building.

Objectives

  • To empower women by enhancing their skill and livelihood opportunities in Northeast India.
  • To promote awareness on rights, education, health and environment of women and vulnerable communities.
  • To enable integral development for socio-economically marginalized communities
  • To provide capacity building for job creation, sustainable income generation activities and marketing linkage.
